DeSoto Falls is one of the tallest and most visited waterfalls in Alabama. Named after the Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto, it stands 107 feet tall and cascades down a layered rock wall into a pool below. You can easily reach the waterfall via a paved path just off Lookout Mountain Parkway, only a few hundred yards from the parking lot. While the upper falls are accessible to people of all abilities, viewing the lower falls requires descending 50 stairs. With a very short hike to a stunning waterfall and more than 30 miles of hiking and biking trails, swimming, and fishing, this park has everything you need for a memorable experience.
